poetry and rap music are they the same?

poetry and rap music have been the best thing to come together since the founding of rap. for rap to sound more then just rhymes. you gotta have something. theres even been developments of rap and spoken word. all its own art form. spoken word is a type of rap that was developed it seems just for the poetry side to stand out without much other then a melody. or at least thats the way i hear it as of now. but what about in raw rap. its about talking about the painful or beautiful things that happend to you and seeing if people think its real. for example if music videos were like poetry you would see the lyrics have something to do with the music video. usually only happens when its poetry. but when rap has been milked to where something to talk about in the song sounds like poetry. theres a problem. to be a poet you have to understand what its like to talk and express view points. changing the world isnt poetry on its own. but its easy for it to become it. changing the world is more the philosophy. poetry to me at least is more aboout what it took to become or talking about what its like to be something. raps the same when its rhyming or would it be poetrys the same when its rhyming.
