1. Quality/Equipment: Quality may be more important then a rapper may believe. Quality does more then make your voice sound clear and crisp, it effects your flow. Good mics can be acquired on a small budget. A good vocal mic i know of is called a "condenser microphone". Remember theres only so much editing can do. Youve gotta get a good mic to give editing justice. I recomend looking up mic reviews on google and youtube before making a purchase.

          -Side tips-

                Mic placement:

You want to take into account where you place your mic. Ask yourself questions like "is my mic to close to the wall? Can my mic hear noise from other objects like a computer? Is my mic stand sending vibrations to my mic when i step...everyone will have a problem to solve...its up to you to figure out what it is when it comes to placement.

                Dark areas:

I havnt tested this but dark areas, maybe even dark objects absorob unwanted noise. look this one up yourself. it may help in perfecting your studio.

                Recording Program or (DAW):

Look into which recording program you want to use. Some i know of include  Mixcraft(cheap),Pro Tools(costly), Audacity (not recomended but free)

                Quality tips:

In my oppinion the most important thing to understand for quality is how loud your vocals/track is, if your whole track is to loud your vocals will usually sound staticky, try turning down the whole mix, and play around with turning down your vocals. But all in all you just want it to sound good. if it sounds good it is good...and sometimes that means youll edit a track diffrent from your previous track. Be inivative.

               Remember:

Quality should be based on how good your vocals sound and not how cris/clear you sound. If your a begininer its ok to practice with a laptop mic untell you find your voice. People will be able to tell if your good regardless of what quality you have. Quality is important but never let it substitute for skill.

               Monitor Recording/Latency:

Monitor Recording is being able to hear yourself while you record. Latency is a delay in hearing audio that  passes through a DAW..Most audio interfaces offer Zero Latency Monitor Recording. But interface Monitor recording wont let you hear the effects(only the original sound going through the mic). Good DAWs will have monitor recording built in so you can hear every effect while you record. But Latency will be a issue without the right setup.
